An original, hand-colored engraving on laid paper of a chimpanzee (jocko) and small gibbon from Comte de Buffon's "Histoire Naturelle," 1807. This is a small antique print measuring 4.5" x 7.5" that is matted in an acid-free, standard-size 11" x 14" white-core mat. The mat opening is 3.5" x 5.5." This print is in very good condition with a light (barely visible) stain above the chimp's head.
