An original and very hard to find "Vinegar Valentine" or "Penny Dreadful" titled, "Getting Ready for the Boarders." These sarcastic and sometimes mean-spirited notes were usually sent anonymously to those who weren't liked, and were usually sent COD so the recipient also had to pay the postage. Mounted on a standard acid-free 11" x 14" board, image including margins measures 10" x 13.5". Published in the US, circa 1900. This is an original chromolithograph, not a reproduction. Please let me know if you would like it matted in an acid-free standard size 16 x 20" mat.
