The Sun and Constellations, Hold to Light, Preyssinger, 1855
Antique engraving of the constellations and sun. This rare and unusual plate is a "hold to light" image, i.e. transparency that shines when held to light due to the yellow paper attached to the reverse of the image. The plate is from a portfolio of loose plates titled, "Astronomischer Bilder-Atlas," by Ludwig Preyssinger. Published in Germany, circa 1855. Overall size, 9.25"L x 11.75"W. Matted in an acid-free, standard 16 x 20" mat.
