Antique, hand-colored etching and "vue d'optique" showing Spanish and French ships in the harbor of Gibraltar, with descriptive text in German and French in the bottom margin. Reverse writing in the top margin because this was meant to be viewed through a mirrored zograscope. Published by J. Winkler, Germany, circa 1785. Sold in an acid-free standard-size 16 x 20" mat. Mat opening, 16"L x 11.5"H; overall plate size is 11.75 x 16.25." Light soiling in margins.
